Visual Eyes see bridal style in every detail of a wedding. Some brides truly find their adult sense of style when they discover their cake or their flowers. However, most brides define their wedding day with their sense of fashion. One defining find for the Big Day is the perfect wedding dress. And few brides would deny the importance of clothing style for that special day.
Visual Eyes: Find Your Perfect Bridal Gowns at Orlando’s Premiere Wedding Fashion Show
Thus it was that J.R. Sterling, Orlando’s Bride Whisperer was delighted to set the visual eyes of his cameras on the fashion show at the recent bridal Expo by “Your Wedding TV,” January 21. 1300 brides, moms, bridesmaids, and yes, even some fiancés, arrived. They hungered for the wedding trends of 2018. And they filled their hearts with ideas for venues, food, music and all the wedding ceremony and reception essentials.
Visual Eyes Spot New Bridal Trends for 2018
As they settled in their chairs around the runway, many brides sparkled with new diamond engagement rings from their grooms. Many of these were given over the Christmas holidays. This event was the first wedding exposition of the season. And the air was carbonated with their pure energy and excitement.
Visual Eyes: J.R. Sterling Captures the Stunning Styles of the Fashion Show
When asked about the visual trends in the new styles for wedding gowns, Sterling did not hesitate to name the three visual qualities that most impressed him–and his lens:
Visual Eyes On Texture
The first thing you notice is the new popularity of lace, he stated. He did not mean stiff, brocaded, embroidered lace, but lace with a softness and femininity that echoed both traditional craftsmanship and the laser-cutting edge of today. If not lace, many dresses still featured textural details with the natural nap of sculpted velvet and the slub of raw silk setting the pace.
Visual Eyes On Color, Color, Color, Everywhere!
The second trend in wedding fashion stuns us all. “Color, Color, Color says it all,” Sterling exclaimed. He remarked on bold color, vibrant color, strong contrasts and multi-color palettes. And Sterling was fast to catch it all with his camera: He mentioned bold color accents in shoes, sashes, handbags and jewels. Everywhere he turned his visual eyes, he found “pops of glorious color.”
Bride’s magazine also noted the visual richness and glamour of the coming colors of wedding season. Experts say, “And finally, expect to see colour like you’ve never seen before: from dark reds to pale blues and even black (yes, really).”
And he gave the men’s fashion industry of 2018 applause for brave color choices in ties, vests and even shirts. Men’s Warehouse has all the latest in masculine classics and brand new bold colors.
The choice of Ultra-violet as the color of the year should have tipped off all of us about the coming season’s rainbow of bountiful color.
Visual Eyes Spy “Flowing” Lines
Even amid the crowd reactions and thumping music, Sterling could hear the delicate swishing sound of skirts and trains. And the turn of the shoulder met the twirl of a hem, the guiding touch of a
hand. The sound led to the visual sighting of flowing lines.
Whether the skirt of each dress was fit, flared or full, it moved in a graceful line.
The models caught the magic and they swirled with delight, just as real brides surely will in the fashions of 2018.
Gone are the crusty embellishments and sharp beads of yesteryear. Gone is are heavy, stiff folds of fabric.
There is lightness and sensuous movement in these dresses. They are comfortable enough for the rigors of the wedding ceremony and reception. And they fit in ways that compliment every body type impeccably as they complement the feminine form.
A Little Research to Check out the Sterling Visions and Impressions
Sterling’s impressions are validated by the latest issue of Bride’s magazine. “there are a lot of very exciting wedding dress trends for brides-to-be. From sleeves of every shape and size to a romantic twist on classic styles. With sheer and sparkle reigning supreme, the Fall wedding dress collections provided a seriously feminine and romantic look…” And Sterling (the Bride Whisperer) captures flowing movement in still photography as deftly as any video camera.
Delightful grace and flowing line can be captured on camera. We can see it in Sterling’s photographs as his visual eyes record the flip of a hem, the pop of a hip, the tilt of the head. The image freezes mid-moment, even though the bride’s body is in a flowing movement.
More Than Tech Know How
For Sterling, there is more at work in capturing these styles than mere camera adjustment. And we also know there is more behind visual eyes than good photographic equipment. We can best
express it with a quotation from the book, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry:
“And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
By the way, Sterling’s email is visualeyes@sterlingphotography.com. And this blog helps explain what that means.
He talks more often about photography than dresses. But he feels a sense of style, texture, color and movement helps to tell the story in any wedding day image.
