Whether it’s your first or your third pregnancy; it’s still a very special time in life. A new arrival will be making their little way into your home and what better way to celebrate but with a maternity photo shoot.
Sure you could pull out your iPhone and snap a few belly pics yourself but how about letting Sterling International Photography take some stunning photographs of you and your momentous change. Contact us today for more information.
Theme It
Are you going for simple and elegant or fancy with a touch of glam? How about a unique rockabilly theme or perhaps some baby props and an outdoors picnic type of photo shoot with both expectant parents? Or you could have your photographs taken in the baby’s nursery (even if it isn’t 100% done and decorated). Do some research, sit down with your significant other, and see what ideas they may have for the photo shoot as well. Maybe it’s a good idea to go back to the place that you all first met for your maternity photo session.
What to Wear
Don’t be afraid to add some color to your photo session wardrobe but make sure to have some solid colors like white and black pieces of clothing readily available. Be careful with bold patterns and for pieces with elastic on them that may leave an imprint on your skin (especially if you plan to go nude in some of the belly photos).
It’s important to capture the belly shape so try to avoid clothing that hangs off the body.
Some more helpful hints:
- An oversized man’s button down shirt can make for an amazing photograph (perhaps a white one).
- Dresses can make for a very classy photo but be sure to have one that hugs your stunning shape.
- A dress doesn’t necessarily need to be a maternity piece. Read more about shopping for clothing that you can wear while the belly is expanding and the same pieces after the baby is born.
- Small pieces of jewelry will tend to work best in your photos unless it’s a big rock on your finger. Do leave that piece of jewelry on.
- Don’t forget about siblings, if there are some or one. They could even write something on mom’s belly announcing the sex of the baby in a photograph.
Congrats on the pregnancy! Embrace this time and your changing body!
