Thank you for checking back in with us for additional tips on finding photographic inspiration. Last week we shared some advice with all of you amateurs, travel enthusiasts, semi-pros, hobbyists, and scrapbookers on how to branch off and find ideas all around you for that picture perfect moment. And there’s more from where that came from!

Assemble a Wall of Inspiration

Whether you are surfing the Internet or flipping through magazines, chances are you will run across some imagery that stands out to you. Perhaps it’s the effective use of perspective, or the beautiful lighting projected, or maybe it’s the perfect balance of colors.

Whatever it is, go ahead and cut or print the pictures you find and pin them up somewhere where you can add future cut-outs.

Be sure to pin up your images in a place that you often look at. Before you know it, you will have a wall of inspiration going. You will notice different themes, techniques and concepts. This will help you on the road to figuring out what you want to photograph.

Emulate Your Favorite Photographs

Many photographers use famous images for inspiration. For instance, we are pretty sure you remember the famous image of Marilyn Monroe with a white dress on that is blown up around her. This image is iconic and can serve as inspiration. You could find yourself coming up with a new conceptual twist on an expressive piece from the past.

Check out some very creative artwork out of Japan featuring Marilyn Monroe. This tourist exhibit is quite impressive and features the blonde bombshell’s famous pose from  the 1955 film The Seven Year Itch. This exhibit is made out of rice and started attracting tourist 21 years ago!

Next week, we will conclude this series on photographic inspiration. In the meantime, please be sure to contact us for your family portraits, wedding and engagement photographs etc. Hey, sometimes the best inspiration comes from seeing your loved ones photographed or your own personal portraits!

Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for more …
