Your engagement and wedding photos are a lasting keepsake. You will share them with friends and family, post them on social median, and pull them out 20 plus years from now. You want to be an authentic reflection of the amazing day and ensure everyone will look utterly gorgeous.
This all depends on the wedding photographer you choose
Googling “Orlando Wedding Photographer” you get over 16,000 results in under a second. That’s a lot!!
No two photographers are the same, so how do you choose the right one for your special day?
“While you’ll always have the memories from your big day, wedding photos are one of the few tangible heirlooms you’ll be able to cherish for years to come.
Moments like your first look, your first kiss, and your first dance will forever be frozen in time—and that’s why hiring the right photographer for the job is essential. After all, pictures really are worth a thousand words.” Brides
Professional vs Novice Photographer
The old saying, “you get what you pay for”, definitely rings true when it comes to photography. A low price tag can end up costing you in the long run.
It can be tempting to hire a friend, relative, or just someone with a nice camera to take your wedding photos, but remember, you can’t go back and have them retaken. In fact, when a happy couple makes this mistake they end up regretting it.
Just about anyone can get a half decent photo by editing and touching it up, but photography is not an easy skill to master. It requites a big investment in high quality equipment and years of practice to create breathtaking photos that tell your love story.
Photos that make you stop in your tracks, take an understanding of lighting, shutter speed, the right lenses, an artistic eye, and so much more. Compromising on cost means compromising on quality.
A professional photographer focuses on each moment with a keen awareness. The art of observation is key to any type of photography. In the whirl of activity on the wedding day, the couple might miss many special moments. It’s the small moments, the wedding couple will have and cherish them, forever. The small moments hold the details. The details hold the memory of the moment.

How to choose the right photographer for your special day
Of course we would love for you to choose Sterling Photography for your engagement and wedding. But more importantly, we want to be happy with your choice. So here are a few tips on choosing the right photographer for your special day.
Personality may be underrated in this process. When you meet your photographer you really want to see if your personalities mesh. After all, you will be spending a good amount of time with them during the wedding.
Make sure you check out their level of experience and perhaps ask for some references. You definitely want to check out their portfolio as well.
Think about the style of photography you have in mind and make sure the photographer has images that align with your wants—candid, classic etc.?
Check out to see if the photographer you meet will actually be the person photographing your wedding. You should make sure you know who will be there that day. It is likely for photographers to work weddings in a team so you will want to see everyone’s work.
Check out the prices and make sure they are in your range (don’t forget to think about albums and reprints). Talk deposits and payments!
Make sure you understand the contract up, down, backwards, and sideways.
Ask how long it will be before you get the proofs back etc.
